Guided Walk - In the steps of Wordsworth in Coleford
Guided Walk - In the steps of Wordsworth
3rd Oct 2010

Forest of Dean & Wye Valley Tour Guides, c/o Forest Connections,
Coleford GL16 7EG

William Wordsworth returned to the woods above Tintern that were the inspiration for his famous poem "Lines composed a few miles above Tintern Abbey ". We are sure you will find the chosen route just as inspiring. You will start the walk at the car park below the Eagles Nest viewpoint at Wyndcliff, before ascending 365 steps to this amazing look-out. From here we go to Tintern with its Cistercian Tintern Abbey and the little known ruined St Marys church. We then continue to Penterry before heading to the Piercefield Esate with its grottos and river views before returning to the Lower Wyndcliffe car park.

The most strenuous part of this route is the steep climb to the Eagles nest and there is also a rocky path into Tintern. Because of these obstacles this route is rated as hard.

Start Time: 10.00
Location: Tintern
Distance: 10 miles (16 Km)
Grade: Hard. The most strenuous part of this route is the steep climb to the Eagles Nest and there is also a rocky path into Tintern
