My family and i visited this tearoom after friends had recommended to us when they had visited. 
 
I must say it was a valid recommendation the whole of our family(8 in all) of varying ages all had a fabulous time. 
 
We arrived at midday and were greeted by smiling staff (such a rarity these days), and as we pondered our choices, we witnessed the warmth of the atmosphere as customers came and went and all were met with a smile, eventually we made our minds up. 
 
We had homemade soup, the signalmans platter, sandwiches and the grand children had lunch boxes. It was so refreshing to have children catered for and very resonably priced. The food was excellant, freshly prepared, well presented and generous portions. 
 
We went for a walk and the children did a tresure hunt again very good value for money and they even got a prize as well. We did enough to work up an appetite for tea and cake. 
 
I have to say i have never tasted such delights as the lavender cake, the children had ice cream and the lemon meringue ice cream was very unusual and very nice. 
 
My last point has to be saved for the coffee as this was far superior to anything costa or starbucks serve , well done to all the staff we cant recommend this highly enough. 
 
We will definately be back, if only we lived a little nearer. 
 

We called into the Old Station because we had heard it was a good place to have breakfast. We were a group of 8 golfers from the Midlands heading for a day at St Pierre. 
 
We all received a warm welcome even though the weather was damp, we were made to feel at home and the staff were very friendly. We all had a full freshly cooked breakfast, the local bacon was 'proper bacon', and the coffee was excellant. This set us up for our 18 holes.  
 
I can whole heartedly recommend this as an essential stopping/eating place. 

This little spot is an amazing oasis of tranquility. The staff and lady owner are so amazingly pleasant and always smiling - its very unusual to have such lovely people. Well done. The food is good too - nothing is too much trouble. I love visiting this place. Its so special that perhaps it should be kept secret. The place is spick and span, the staff are clean and presentable without greasy hair or rings in their noses too, the loos are all immaculate and the high quality of the tasty ham, bread, local bacon & sausages, eggs and genuinely homemade cakes are all hard to find anywhere in the UK these days - hommemade is word that is ofen bandied about to deceive people - no so here!! Consistancy has been there each time I have called in over the past years - and long may it do so. I dread the day if hoards of marauding inconsiderate cyclists (mostly without manners. bells, lights or hand signals) come along the proposed cycle route which will spoil this pleasantly tranquil spot and lovely valley for walkers and passing visitors and where will the cycllists park their four wheel drive cars with many bikes strapped to the back and their own rations too. The present facilities are fine, please do not spoil this wonderful place that does so much for the area and is a beacon of sustainable tourism. If anything a steam line along the route between Chepshow and Monmoouth would be wonderful and far more attractive & useful all year round to visitors - cyclists would then have to come by sustainable train - this gives access to all and not a few gas guzzling cyclists with their bikes on their 4 wheel drives.

Tea room was lovely, staff all very helpful and friendly, and we very much enjoyed our tea and home-made cakes! We will definitely be visiting again and will be recommending to our friends!

My family and i visited old station for the first time this weekend. All i can say is what a find. Having lived inMonmouthshire all my life it was my first visit. 
 
The 5 of use had a variety of choices off the menu and all the food was excellant. I must say that the staff who were clearly very busy were excellant, polite and attentive and they all smiled which makes such a difference. 
The children's meals represented good value for money as did the wonderful array of activities to occupy them, my little girl loved hunting around for the ducks. 
 
We enjoyed our day so much we returned on Sunday to visit the civil war re enactment, this time there were even more people enjoying the day. 
 
We again decided to eat, this time we had afternoon tea and once again it was fabulous. My mother who is 86, said she had never tasted such a lovely bread pudding. The children had little fairy cakes and demanded more!! 
 
We shall definately be regulars now we have discovered such a charming place to spend an afternoon. 
 
 
 

We have been going to the Old station Tea Room for about five years and have never failed to enjoy ourselves. The staff are always willing to help and are very welcoming. Even when it is busy it always appears to be calm and tranquil, being a fantastic place to sit or take a leisurely stroll around the grounds.

My husband and I (along with our dog) stopped off for some refreshments on our way to Hereford. What a wonderful find. Even though the cafe was busy, the staff still found time to be polite and welcoming. The 'light bites' on offer were freshly made and the home-made cakes were exceptional. My husband enjoyed the banana bread and I am now very fond of lavender cake. We sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed our mugs of coffee in very pretty surroundings. What could be better? 
 
Well done to all the ladies in the cafe, who made our visit so nice. We will certainly be calling in again, so keep up the good work!

We visited the station last Sunday and had a fabulous afternoon. My husband had homemade vegetable soup, follwed by a fabulous station masters platter, (local cheeses, breads, salad, wonderful chutney), i went for a cranberry and brie panini, while the children had lunch boxes (all freshly made). The staff were very friendly and we were served quickly even though the place was very busy. 
 
The children did a dalek treasure hunt and this involved a good walk which made us decide to try the cakes. 
 
I haven't tasted cakes this good, i can recommend the lavender cake, my children had rocky road, while my husband succumbed to a huge piece of bread pudding. 
 
All this in delightful surroundings, highly recommend.
